We are working with a well-established social housing provider in East London to recruit a Chartered Building Surveyor to take a lead role in disrepair and damp & mould casework. This is a permanent opportunity for an experienced surveyor to join a forward-thinking team committed to improving housing standards across the borough. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing complex repair cases, ensuring legal compliance, and delivering high-quality outcomes for residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on building inspections relating to disrepair, damp, mould, and condensation issues within the housing stock.
  • Provide expert diagnosis and recommend remedial works, ensuring that all advice is technically sound and in line with legislation and internal policies.
  • Prepare detailed reports to support legal disrepair cases in line with Section 11 of the Landlord and Tenant Act.
  • Act as a technical advisor to internal teams, legal departments, and external solicitors, and attend court where required.
  • Oversee and review contractor performance, ensuring repairs and remedial works are completed to standard and within required timeframes.
  • Provide clear communication to residents, managing expectations and maintaining high levels of customer service.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant building regulations, legislation, and best practice, particularly relating to social housing and fitness for human habitation.

Requirements:

  • MRICS or FRICS qualified (essential).
  • Strong background in building surveying within the social housing sector.
  • Proven experience managing disrepair and damp & mould cases, with sound understanding of relevant legislation.
  • Excellent diagnostic, report writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential).
