Our client is a well-established specialist subcontractor delivering brickwork, blockwork, masonry, façade remediation, and structural masonry packages across a range of high-profile construction projects throughout London and the South East. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing and reputable subcontractor delivering projects predominantly within the M25, offering long-term career progression and exposure to prestigious schemes.

The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the commercial management of brickwork and masonry packages from tender stage through to final account. Working closely with site teams, senior management, clients, and subcontractors, you will ensure projects are commercially controlled, delivered within budget, and managed in line with contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commercial Management – Managing the commercial delivery of brickwork and masonry packages
  • Preparing and submitting valuations and applications for payment
  • Measurement and valuation of completed works and variations
  • Managing cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Negotiating and agreeing final accounts
  • Procurement & Subcontractor Management
  • Procurement and management of subcontractors and suppliers
  • Supporting tendering and estimating activities where required
  • Liaising with site teams and operational staff to monitor project progress
  • Ensuring commercial compliance across multiple live projects
  • Client & Stakeholder Management
  • Building strong working relationships with clients and project teams
  • Liaising with internal departments to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Supporting successful commercial outcomes across all packages
RequirementsEssential
  • Proven experience working for a subcontractor (essential)
  • Strong brickwork or masonry package experience (essential)
  • Qualified Quantity Surveyor (HNC / HND / Degree or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in a Quantity Surveyor role within construction
  • Strong commercial awareness and cost management ability
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and standard QS practices
Desirable
  • Experience working alongside main contractors
  • Knowledge of standard forms of contract
  • Experience using CosteX
