The client is seeking a Lead Mechanical Fitter/Engineer to deliver planned preventative and reactive maintenance across a large commercial building. The role ensures mechanical and HVAC systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with statutory regulations and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake PPM and reactive maintenance on mechanical and HVAC systems
- Inspect, maintain, and repair AHUs, FCUs, LTHW, pumps, valves, chilled and portable water systems, and water hygiene systems
- Assist with minor installation, upgrade, and adaptation works
- Fault-find and resolve technical issues safely and logically
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete required paperwork
- Operate hand/power tools and access equipment safely
- Conduct risk assessments and comply with health, safety, and infection control procedures
- Liaise with building occupants, colleagues, and other trades to minimise disruption
- Participate in callout/standby rota after qualifying period
- Undertake training to maintain and develop required skills
Skills & Experience Required
- Recognised Mechanical Apprenticeship
- NVQ Level 3 in Maintenance/Mechanical Services or equivalent
- Experience in complex maintenance, preferably commercial buildings
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, HVAC, water systems, PPM/reactive maintenance
- Pipe fitting experience (desirable)
- Authorised Person - Mechanical/Ventilation (desirable)
- Experience with steam systems and plumbing (desirable)
