Daniel Owen Ltd are proud to be recruiting for PTS Train Cleaners to join a brand-new, long-term contract based in Derby (DE24). We are working closely with one of the UK\’s leading rail maintenance providers, supporting them in building a high-performing cleaning team to service trains that are essential to public transport across the region. This is an exciting opportunity for those with a valid Personal Track Safety (PTS) certificate and a strong work ethic to join a stable, supportive, and growing team in the rail sector. Full training on procedures and safety expectations will be provided on-site. About the Role: As a PTS Train Cleaner, you will be responsible for delivering high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across train units. Your role is critical in maintaining a safe and pleasant environment for passengers and staff alike. Working on a 4-on / 4-off night shift rotation (22:00 – 06:00), you will be part of a team carrying out cleaning activities during trains\’ scheduled downtime. Please note: flexibility to work weekends and public holidays is essential due to the nature of rail operations. Key Responsibilities: Conducting full interior cleaning of train carriages, including toilets, floors, walls, ceilings, and seating areas. Performing heavy-duty deep cleans where required, ensuring that all areas meet company cleanliness and hygiene standards. Cleaning driver cabs, vestibules, and passenger saloon areas with attention to high-contact points (handles, rails, buttons). Working in line with health and safety procedures, wearing correct PPE at all times. Completing cleaning checklists and reporting any defects, hazards, or damage found during the shift. Adhering to strict rail safety protocols at all times when working on or near operational tracks. Requirements: To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria: Valid Personal Track Safety (PTS) certification – mandatory. Prior experience in train cleaning, industrial cleaning, or facilities maintenance is highly desirable. A strong work ethic, high attention to detail, and the ability to take pride in delivering consistently high standards. Physically fit and capable of manual handling, working on your feet, and moving between carriages during your shift. Comfortable working night shifts on a 4-on / 4-off rota. A reliable team player with excellent timekeeping and communication skills. Able to follow safety instructions and site-specific procedures without supervision.
