Daniel Owen Agency are currently looking for dedicated PTS De-Vegetation Operatives to join our team and assist with vegetation control and clearance tasks across various railway and infrastructure projects. The successful candidates will be responsible for safely and effectively removing and managing vegetation growth along tracks, embankments, and other railway assets. This role requires PTS (Personal Track Safety) certification, as well as an understanding of the specific safety protocols associated with working in close proximity to live rail environments. Key Responsibilities: Carry out de-vegetation work along railway tracks, embankments, and adjacent areas, including the removal of trees, shrubs, weeds, and other vegetation that could obstruct the railway infrastructure. Use a variety of tools and equipment, including brush cutters, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, and other manual and powered machinery to clear vegetation. Safely work within the requirements of the PTS certification, ensuring adherence to all rail safety protocols and working practices. Inspect and assess the vegetation areas to determine appropriate removal and treatment methods. Perform vegetation control tasks on both scheduled and emergency jobs, including weekend and night shifts if necessary. Maintain vegetation-free zones to improve visibility for train operators and enhance the structural integrity of railways. Follow environmental guidelines and regulations when performing de-vegetation tasks to minimise the impact on surrounding flora and fauna. Support teams in the safe disposal of vegetation debris in accordance with environmental and safety regulations. Work in close coordination with supervisors and other team members to ensure efficient and safe project completion. Adhere to health and safety standards, including the use of protective equipment such as gloves, goggles, and high-visibility clothing. Regularly inspect and maintain tools and equipment to ensure they are in safe working condition. Report any hazards, damages, or unsafe conditions to the site supervisor immediately.About you: PTS (Personal Track Safety) certification is required. Experience in de-vegetation, landscaping, or ground maintenance is preferred. Proficiency in using various landscaping tools and machinery, such as brush cutters, chainsaws, and hedge trimmers. Knowledge of safe working practices when operating machinery and working in live rail environments. Good physical fitness and stamina, with the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Ability to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and manage tasks efficiently. Basic understanding of environmental and ecological considerations in vegetation management. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify potential risks in the work environment.
