We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Assistant in Oxford. The role will assist in ensuring the reliable operation and maintenance of critical mechanical systems across a busy environment. The role will be carrying out planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance on a variety of mechanical systems, with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and high standards of service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Operations Manager - Estates
  • To undertake the maintenance of the building as directed by the PPM schedule and the management, using the appropriate trade skills required
  • Work alone with minimum supervision or within a team to carry out maintenance/repair of M&E services plant and equipment across the site.
  • To integrate and communicate effectively with other trade staff such as engineers particularly for M&E maintenance, new and remedial works.
  • To carry out M&E works as required i.e. new works, refurbishment and capital works replacement programme.
  • Working 40 hours per week, from 08:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday, with a requirement to work flexible hours to suit the operational needs of the site as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Recognised engineering apprenticeship or approved equivalent
  • NVQ Level 2 (or higher) or equivalent relevant experience
  • Demonstrable experience in a relevant mechanical maintenance role
  • City & Guilds in steam maintenance or BOAS certification
  • Experience with calorifiers, PHEs, pipe fitting, industrial hot water systems
  • Knowledge of specialist pressure systems
  • Familiarity with other trades is advantageous
