The Role
We are working with a reputable social housing provider seeking an experienced Maintenance Surveyor to support their day-to-day repairs service across East London. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and understands the importance of delivering high-quality housing services to residents.
You will play a key role in ensuring repairs are diagnosed accurately, works are delivered efficiently, and properties are maintained to a safe and compliant standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out pre- and post-inspections for day-to-day responsive repairs
- Diagnose building defects and specify appropriate remedial works
- Prepare clear schedules of work and cost estimates
- Manage and monitor contractor performance, ensuring quality, value for money, and compliance
- Ensure works are delivered in line with health & safety, housing standards, and regulatory requirements
- Handle technical queries and provide expert advice to operational teams
- Work collaboratively with residents, contractors, and internal stakeholders to resolve issues efficiently
- Use housing and repairs systems to update records and track progress
About You
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Surveyor within social housing or a similar residential environment
- Strong knowledge of day-to-day / responsive repairs
- Solid understanding of building construction, defects, and maintenance practices
- Confident managing contractors and challenging poor performance when required
- Excellent communication skills with a resident-focused mindset
- Able to manage a busy patch and make sound decisions independently
- Familiar with relevant health & safety legislation and compliance standards
