Our client is seeking a Bid Writer to join their Proposals Team within the Pre-Construction department. This role will support regional teams in producing compelling, compliant, and high-quality submissions across a diverse range of schemes including development, new build, fire remediation, decarbonisation and retrofit works.
The Role
The Bid Writer will play a key role in managing and delivering persuasive, client-focused tender submissions. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, you will ensure bids are strategically structured, technically robust and aligned with client scoring criteria.
Key Responsibilities
- Working closely with internal disciplines to gather technical, operational and commercial information for proposal content
- Writing clear, concise and compelling responses tailored to client requirements
- Strategically planning and managing quality responses to maximise scoring potential
- Refining and editing contributions from technical teams to ensure clarity and compliance
- Developing and maintaining response libraries and standardised formats
- Producing high-quality, visually engaging submission documents using Microsoft Office and design platforms such as InDesign or Canva
- Preparing presentation materials for interviews and bid pitches
- Continuously improving submission quality through feedback and innovation
- Ensuring all submissions are delivered on time and fully compliant
Requirements
- APMP Foundation qualification
- Proven experience in bid writing or proposal development, ideally within construction, housing or regeneration
- Minimum two years' experience in technical writing
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prepare tailored submissions aligned with strategic and client objectives
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Adobe InDesign, Canva and Visio advantageous
- Strong understanding of the construction industry and bid lifecycle
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
