Overview
As an Assistant Development Manager, you will assist in progressing sites through feasibility, legal, technical, planning, health & safety, and financial stages of projects - supporting schemes through to Budget Pack sign-off and start on site.
Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Development Manager
- Support the Regional Development Director in the effective running of the Development function.
- Assist with pre-construction activities from land handover through to project completion.
- Support the coordination of internal and external stakeholders throughout the development process.
- Support the preparation, monitoring, and review of development budgets and programmes.
- Support Development Managers in ensuring all legal requirements are met for each development.
- Liaise with Legal teams, solicitors, and technical teams to ensure documentation is in place.
Governance & Compliance
- Assist in preparing paperwork and reports required for internal governance approvals.
- Support audit compliance and adherence to ISO 9001 requirements.
Project Coordination & Administration
- Support early handover of sites from Land / New Business teams to full Project Teams.
- Assist in setting construction budgets and programmes.
- Monitor developments using coordination checklists and reporting tools.
- Assist in preparing Post Investment Reviews and Project Close-Out Reports.
- Support procurement of surveys, reports, and assessments to enable planning and pre-delivery activities.
Person Specification
- Educated to A-level standard (or equivalent), or able to demonstrate relevant experience.
- Keen interest in development and pre-construction activities.
- Highly numerate with the ability to support feasibility appraisals.
- Strong literacy skills with the ability to understand and interpret legal documentation.
Desirable
- Experience in a Development role within the construction or property sector.
- Exposure to residential, affordable housing, care, or mixed-use developments.
- Desire to pursue further education or professional development.
