We're partnering with an established global software business making a major investment into Applied AI and Generative AI across its product portfolio. This is not a Data Science or research position. They're looking for Software Engineers and Senior Software Engineers who are strong product developers first, particularly within C#/.NET, and who are excited by the opportunity to build AI directly into real-world software used by businesses internationally. You do not need years of AI experience. If you're an accomplished .NET engineer who has started building genuinely useful applications with LLMs/GenAI, they want to hear from you.
What you'll be doing:
- Building and evolving commercial applications using C#, .NET and modern web technologies
- Designing and integrating Generative AI/LLM functionality directly into software products
- Working with technologies such as OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Claude, Gemini or local models
- Exploring RAG, AI agents, Semantic Kernel, MCP, vector search and intelligent workflows
- Engineering around the realities of production AI: accuracy, security, validation, guardrails, latency and cost
- Working across the stack, including modern frontend technologies such as React, Angular or TypeScript
- Modernising established products while helping shape how AI changes their capabilities
- Taking ideas from experimentation through to production-ready customer functionality
What we're looking for:
- Strong commercial C#/.NET engineering experience
- Modern .NET / ASP.NET Core / REST API development
- Genuine full-stack capability
- React, Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript or similar
- SQL and strong software-engineering fundamentals
- Cloud exposure across Azure and/or AWS
- Hands-on exposure to LLMs or Generative AI
- Crucially, we're interested in engineers who have built with AI, not simply used Copilot or ChatGPT to generate code. That experience could be commercial, independent or through substantial personal projects; what matters is that you can explain what you built, how the model was integrated and the engineering decisions surrounding it.
Why consider it?
This is an opportunity to join a substantial software organisation at a point where AI is becoming a core part of its engineering and product strategy, rather than a side project. You'll remain a Software Engineer, but with the opportunity to make Applied AI a much bigger part of your career.
Salary: Up to £80,000 depending on level and experience
Location: Newcastle
Hybrid: 3 days onsite, 2 days remote
Levels: Mid-Level & Senior Software Engineers
