We have a fantastic opportunity for a Graduate Building Surveyor to join our busy Colchester office team.
The Role
This role will offer the successful candidate the chance to start their career within a busy and award winning multi‑disciplinary practice, with full APC support and opportunities for professional development. Projects will be varied, with a diverse range of clients including developers, property companies, retailers, local authorities, health trusts, universities, schools, and academies. You can expect to be given responsibilities from the outset, including surveys, designs, reports and contract documents as required, whilst receiving all the guidance and support required to enable you to develop and consolidate your skills. You should be comfortable working independently or as part of a team.
Other responsibilities of the role include:
- Carrying out surveys, measured surveys and building inspections
- Attending meetings/presentations where appropriate
- Act as Contract Administrator on construction projects
- Checking and reviewing documents, drafting reports etc.
About You / Performance Criteria
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, capable and ambitious Graduate Building Surveyor. You will have a BSc in Building Surveying and also:
- Be working towards and committed to attaining RICS chartered membership
- Excellent listening and verbal/written communication skills
- Strong IT skills with a willingness to embrace new technologies
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
- Be familiar (but not expert) with construction contracts, project processes and procedures, tendering, and construction processes
- Be organised; able to plan, prioritise and tackle problems effectively
- Be proactive, capable of managing multiple tasks and willing to ask for help when necessary
- Be a team player and self‑motivated
- Professional manner
- Full driving licence.
