We are looking for an Apprentice Building Surveyor to become part of our friendly, welcoming team in Colchester. Enthusiastic and willing to learn, you can expect to receive exceptional training, guidance and support to help you develop and consolidate your skills. The Role
- Building Inspections: Conduct thorough inspections of buildings, both residential and commercial, examining various aspects such as structural integrity, condition of the roof, walls, floors, and other components.
- Report Writing: Write detailed reports outlining findings from inspections, including descriptions of defects or problems discovered, along with recommendations for repairs or maintenance.
- Advising Clients: Provide expert advice to clients, including homeowners, property developers, investors, or government agencies, on addressing building defects and improving energy efficiency.
- Building Regulations and Planning: Ensure compliance with relevant laws and standards related to safety, accessibility, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
- Project Management: Oversee planning, design, and implementation of building projects, ensuring they meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Client Communication: Interact regularly with clients, providing updates on inspections or projects, answering questions, and addressing concerns.
- Sustainability: Promote energy efficiency, sustainable construction, environmental assessments, climate resilience, and advocate for sustainable development.
The workload will be varied, with a diverse range of clients including developers, property companies, retailers, local authorities, health trusts, universities, schools and academies.
Training provided
Studying at Anglia Ruskin University’s Chelmsford campus on day release, at the end of the five-year course you will have gained a BSc (Hons) Building Surveying degree. DCP has a strong record of nurturing trainee/apprentice surveyors through their degree programmes and subsequently through the APC process. We will provide support and structured learning to help you achieve Chartered status.

- GCSE: English and Maths (grade C/4)
- BTEC: Any (112 UCAS points) DMM
