Ecological Consultant Role

We’re looking for someone who is seeking a varied workload to join our independent ecological consultancy based on the Hampshire – Wiltshire border. Right next to the Salisbury Plain we can offer an inclusive and friendly work environment being part of a team with a wide range of ecological and landscape experience.

Our client base is spread across southern England and includes householders, architects, house builders, water utilities, rural agents and government agencies.

Roles & responsibilities

Ecological

  • Work independently and undertake ecology related fieldwork
  • Survey scheduling and logisitics
  • Production of PRAs and PEAs
  • Applied understanding of EcIAs
  • Liaise with clients, and other organisations to promote strong working relationships and effective communication

Essential

  • Two years ecological consultancy experience
  • Demonstrable competency with QGIS/QField
  • Applied understanding of BNG and use of the Statutory BNG metric
  • Robust interpersonal skills, field skills, report writing and communication skills

Desirable

  • Holding/working towards a Natural England protected species licence/s
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology & Environmental Management (CIEEM)
  • Transferable skills from previous non-ecology roles

Other Requirements

  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Access to your own car, insured for business use.

Job title: Ecologist

Contract: Permanent

Office location: Tidworth, SP9

Salary: £28.000 – £30,000/annum depending on experience

Hours: 40/week (between May & September these hours worked Monday to Thursday)

Holiday entitlement: 224 statutory holiday hours/year (equivalent to 28 eight hour days.) This includes public holidays. In addition to statutory holidays we offer a further 40 hours/year (equivalent to 5 eight hour days).

Benefits: one professional membership paid, all work-related expenses paid, NEST pension after 3 months. After 12 months service category D shares which receive profit related bonus. Personal training budget of £500/year. Use of Company van for work. Private medical insurance. Death in service benefit.
