We are looking for a Backend engineer to join the Account Management team. The team has a broad scope in Account space - customer features (converting money, holding different currencies, bank statements, sharing account with partners, etc.) and platform (product ledger, APIs for other Wise teams).
For everything we do, we keep our customers' needs in mind. We prioritise projects using research based on the data, collect the feedback from customers and learn from our mistakes. At Wise, we believe in independent teams where we define our priorities ourselves and everyone can contribute with ideas and suggestions.
Your work will directly impact millions of customers that trust Wise to manage their money. The solutions you develop will play a crucial role in sustaining and accelerating Wise’s growth, ensuring that our product offering stays a step ahead of our customer's needs and global market demands.
What will you be working on?
- Offering new types of accounts (Savings, Joint)
- Scaling product ledger platform (new capabilities, reliability)
What do you need?
- You know how to deliver complex product solutions and build distributed systems which are used by millions of customers.
- You are proficient in backend programming languages like Java, Python or Go.
- You have extensive experience in designing and implementing asynchronous, reliable and scalable systems in microservices environments.
- You have a strong product mindset and genuine passion for user experience — you prioritise customer value and make data-driven decisions.
- You are comfortable using AI‑assisted development tools and apply engineering judgement to everything you ship.
- You have a self‑starter attitude with a collaborative spirit — you work well independently and across teams.
- Clean, efficient, and well‑tested code is your standard — you’re big on performance and maintainability.
- You are a strong communicator and can articulate complex, technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
- You know how to communicate with multiple teams and find the best solution that suits everyone.
