At Wise, we’ve got a clear mission – money without borders. Built by and for people who live global lives. We’re at a genuinely exciting time, and building products that support Business and Personal needs for credit has never been more important in achieving our mission.
Your mission is to help the Spend squad understand and meet customers’ credit needs for business and personal use. This opportunity requires generative, evaluative, and strategic research across regions to inform product direction and quality. Your work will guide which markets we expand to, shape value propositions, and ensure in‑product flows fit seamlessly into people’s lives and businesses. You’ll join a vibrant research community of 20+ researchers and work embedded within the Spend squad.
As a Senior Researcher, you’ll be owning your expertise. You’ll contribute by:
- Leading complex research – work on large projects that are often complex and ambiguous, operating with significant autonomy
- Problem‑solving excellence – proactively demonstrate exceptional problem‑solving skills and holistic research thinking
- Taking ownership – regularly lead work and take responsibility for research decisions
- Collaborating – routinely work with other researchers and disciplines, often leading workshops and crits
- Planning strategically – able to explain how work streams should be planned, coordinated and sequenced
- Defining success – ensure key milestones and metrics are in place to measure and assess impact
- Storytelling and advocacy – strong cross‑functional collaborator and accomplished storyteller; effective advocate of a research‑led approach
- Using modern tools thoughtfully – leverage AI and emerging tools where they help accelerate research delivery while maintaining research rigour
This role will give you the opportunity to:
- Own complex work – lead large, ambiguous research projects with significant autonomy and impact
- Shape direction – influence how your team prioritises and sequences work to achieve squad goals
- Develop your expertise – continue growing as a research expert while expanding your strategic and leadership capabilities
- Be part of our mission – to make money without borders the new normal
A bit about you…
- Have deep experience with both generative and evaluative research; exceptional problem‑solving skills and holistic research thinking
- Know how to choose the right research approach for different ambiguity levels, build decision confidence through well‑designed studies, and connect user evidence to business outcomes
- Be comfortable working embedded in cross‑functional product teams; able to work autonomously and collaboratively with PM, data, design and engineering
- Be able to guide teams on actioning insights and work closely with designers to ideate based on findings
- Have strong presentation and storytelling skills, especially when sharing impactful insights
- Be comfortable using modern research tools and thoughtfully applying AI where it can accelerate delivery without compromising quality
You’re also…
- Capable of prioritising and sequencing activities, addressing uncertainties and defining success
- Self‑directed; you can spot opportunities and take appropriate steps to action them with minimal guidance
And as a heads up, this role probably isn’t for you if:
- Your experience is primarily market research and/or academia
- You don’t have demonstrable experience leading UX research within the tech/product industry
- You’re not comfortable working with significant autonomy on complex, ambiguous projects
