Wise is a global technology company, building the best way to move and manage the world’s money. Min fees. Max ease. Full speed. Whether people and businesses are sending money to another country, spending abroad, or making and receiving international payments, Wise is on a mission to make their lives easier and save them money. As part of our team, you will be helping us create an entirely new network for the world's money. For everyone, everywhere.

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Continuous Delivery (CD) Platform team. You’ll dive straight into Spinnaker, our strategic platform to help us build a global infrastructure that is scalable, reliable, and secure. At Wise, Continuous Delivery isn't just a process; it’s how we protect our customers. You will be responsible for designing and running a comprehensive CD ecosystem that empowers our entire engineering organisation to ship code safely. We operate on a strong belief in automation, programmatic implementation, and reusable design. We’re looking for people who can step back and think holistically about the ecosystem, but also follow through and help implement the design; drawing on the resources across the rest of the platform tribe.

As we grow, so does our need to deploy software with maximum confidence and minimum effort. We need to sustain this growth by continuously iterating on the services we run, with a focus on availability, security, and ease of use. We’re looking for an engineer with relevant experience who can analyse complex requirements and deliver simple solutions to help our teams achieve our mission with speed and confidence.

What will you be working on?

  • Evolving the Continuous Delivery platform offering; currently the focus is principally extending the OSS project of Spinnaker.
  • Creating a scalable foundation for our CD platform, integrating with partner teams in Platform Engineering.
  • Working closely with engineers across the company to help them as they shift towards the CD paradigm for deploying software.

If you’re a problem-solver who loves working at scale and using data to drive technical decisions, we want to hear from you.

What do you need?

  • Hands-on Java Software Engineer – you will be building the platform and applying best SDLC practices (development, testing, applications, monitoring).
  • Strong understanding of Java and relevant application frameworks (e.g. Spring Boot).
  • Experience of cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, GCP) both in utilising services and how cloud infrastructure works.
  • Experience with containerisation technology and orchestration platforms e.g. Docker, Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of architectural concepts such as microservices, service mesh.
  • Experience in scaling, building and testing with automation; e.g. including tooling in pipelines instead of manual operational changes.
  • Growth mindset and a desire to learn, teach, and improve skills.
  • Previous ownership of mission‑critical shared infrastructure.

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience with CI/CD systems, in particular Spinnaker.
  • Experience in implementing SRE principles.
  • Good knowledge of observability stacks and tooling (e.g. Grafana, ELK, Prometheus, Tracing).
  • Good discipline and skill in producing written documentation and diagrams.
  • Good knowledge of cloud networking and security.
  • Experience working in a regulated business (e.g. PCI).
  • Experience of capacity planning as well as performance and load testing.

What you gain:

  • The ability to choose your own path to success – you’ll have the freedom to define the vision.
  • The opportunity to gain visibility in the open source community.
  • The freedom to have real impact.
  • The opportunity to inspire teams.
  • A fun work environment with social activities and events.

In addition you also get back:

  • RSU's in a growing company.
  • An annual self-development budget.
  • Statutory maternity leave, with a perk of 18 fully paid weeks of parental leave for birth or adoption.
  • Paternity leave for 18 weeks at full pay.
  • 3 fully paid ‘me days’ per year to help you manage life.
  • Relocation and visa expenses covered.
  • A paid 6-week sabbatical leave after four years.

For everyone, everywhere. We're people building money without borders — without judgement or prejudice, too. We believe teams are strongest when they are diverse, equitable and inclusive. We're proud to have a truly international team, and we celebrate our differences. Inclusive teams help us live our values and make sure every Wiser feels respected, empowered to contribute towards our mission and able to progress in their careers.
