We’re on a mission to make migration easy. We started building Marshmallow in 2017. Since then, we’ve grown from 3 to 700+ people, gained unicorn status, raised about £140M over three funding rounds, turned profitable, insured millions of drivers and lent millions in car loans. But we’re only just getting started. Our goal is to become one of the largest financial services providers in the world. Over the next 10 years we’ll grow exponentially, not only by scaling our existing products, but also by building new ones. To achieve our goals we need incredibly ambitious, commercially driven people who never settle for ‘good enough’. Marshmallowers are hungry for autonomy and ownership, and would rather improve than coast. Everyone raises standards and has an impact, with a focus on collective success over self‑interest. We’ve created an environment where curious, tenacious people win and grow together. If that sounds motivating, this could be the place for you.
Almost three years ago we bought the management of our claims in‑house, and with that comes a highly complex and impactful part of the business that drives significant commercial outcomes. There are a number of challenges that the product team has to solve for; whether it is designing tools for our internal claim handlers and balancing partners and workflows, or addressing the needs of our customers who make a claim through our mobile app. You’ll be working alongside a Senior Product Designer whilst being embedded in a cross‑functional team of product managers, engineers, operations and data. You will be discovering, defining, testing and delivering at speed and with purpose.
What you will be doing:
- Working in a cross functional team. You’ll work collaboratively with product managers, engineers, operations and other designers; challenging and educating each other along the way.
- Conducting research internally and externally. You’re comfortable running your own research, gathering feedback and using insights to inform design decisions.
- Implementing high‑quality, clear designs. Using design principles, industry knowledge and best practices you’ll make rational decisions that help our customers when they interact with Marshmallow.
- Navigating stakeholders. Claims is a very costly area to the business with a lot of stakeholder attention. You’ll need to be able to navigate stakeholders within the business, taking them on the journey and keeping them in the loop.
- Maintaining high design standards by pairing with your peers, holding design reviews, facilitating workshops and contributing to the wider design system.
You should apply if:
- You enjoy complex problems with lots of moving parts. You really have to think holistically about the claims process and varying workflows constantly.
- You are actively and curiously using AI to optimise your workflow and create efficiency gains.
- You’ve had experience shipping to production, analysing data and you’re curious about which tools and releases will help you progress faster.
- You are just as happy designing internal tools as well as mobile apps. The work is varied and it changes drastically from project to project. Be prepared to switch context quickly.
- You are a self‑starter. You look to make continuous improvement to the products that you are working on.
Perks of the job:
- Flexible working - Spend 2 days per week with your team in our new collaborative London office.
- Competitive bonus scheme - designed to reward and recognise high performance.
- Flexible benefits budget - £50 per month to spend on a Ben Mastercard meaning you get your own benefits budget to spend on things you want.
- Sabbatical Leave - Get a 4‑week fully paid sabbatical after being with us for 4 years.
- Work From Anywhere - 4 weeks work from anywhere to use, with no need to come to the office.

Background checks: As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and trustworthy environment, we’ll carry out standard background checks, including a DBS and a Cifas check. These help ensure there are no ongoing criminal proceedings and support the prevention of fraud and other forms of serious misconduct. If anything of concern is identified, it may affect your eligibility for certain roles or services. Feel free to ask our Talent Acquisition team if you have any questions about this!
Diversity of thought: We know the best ideas come from having different perspectives in the room - and we're committed to hiring fairly, regardless of background, identity or experience. If you see yourself in this role, we'd encourage you to apply.
