The role focuses on creating smooth and hassle‑free experiences for tracking, submitting, and managing business expenses for over 700,000 businesses.
About the Role
You'll own the end‑to‑end experience for business expense management, designing and building robust distributed backend systems, guiding architectural decisions, and partnering closely with Product, Business, and Card squads to deliver new features and growth.
Responsibilities
- Design and build distributed backend services for receipt collection and management, expense report submission, and enforcement of company spend policies.
- Automate month‑end processes using LLM technologies for document scanning, auto‑categorisation, and auto‑reconciliation.
- Develop innovative business card products such as subscription cards and credit options.
- Provide visibility over expenses for business owners and finance heads.
- Own a technical roadmap, ensuring high standards for maintainability, quality, and performance.
- Lead development of new solutions, driving initiatives from concept to production.
- Serve as a technical expert in the Business Expense Management domain, offering hands‑on guidance on architecture, code reviews, and best practices.
- Mentor and grow a diverse team of junior and senior engineers, fostering a supportive and growth‑focused environment.
- Collaborate with product, engineering leads, and stakeholders to shape technical and product roadmaps.
- Navigate complex priorities, make trade‑offs, and deliver risk‑reduced solutions that unlock growth.
Qualifications
- Strong background in software engineering, with experience designing and building complex, scalable systems.
- Expertise delivering reliable, robust services in production environments.
- Experience with distributed systems and comfortable discussing trade‑offs and technical direction.
- Hands‑on experience with front‑end development is a plus but not required.
- Strong product mindset: ownership, autonomy, and the ability to drive initiatives to completion.
- Experience working closely with product and stakeholders to define requirements and prioritize impactful work.
- Empathetic leader with a track record of mentoring engineers at all levels.
- Excellent communication skills, able to articulate technical concepts to technical and non‑technical audiences.
