Reporting to the CAD Technical Leader, you will be responsible for transferring templates for high quality worktops into accurate detailed technical drawings using CAD software so our main production team can produce our kitchen worktops here at our Newton Aycliffe manufacturing site.
In your role as a CAD Technician, you will also upload product specification/data sheets and liaise with sub‑contractor suppliers/customers regarding any templating irregularities to ensure RFT quality targets are met. Daily communication with the sales office and main contractors on site when delivering physical templates is a key responsibility of the role ensuring all information is handed over and recorded correctly.
The department operates to a CAD priority work queue based on ex works manufacturing dates to which OTIF targets must be achieved in order for customer approval to be sought in a timely manner. The CAD Technician must follow and comply with all company safety and procedure guidelines.
Immediate priorities:
- To gain an understanding of current CAD practices and material types involved.
- Familiarise yourself with Stone Pro software required to perform the desired processes.
- Gain knowledge of our manufacturing tolerances and specifications.
- Gain knowledge around our quality standards and adhere to them.
- Have a full understanding around H&S within the area and required PPE whilst visiting Production office/shopfloor.
- Gain experience around physical templates and digitising appliances.
- Be confident in Excel spreadsheet completion for daily KPI capture.
- Record all non-conforming issues by means of SMR procedure and report to supervision.
- Build relations with Internal/External suppliers/customers regarding any non-conforming issues received at template stage.
- Understand safe working practice guidelines and H&S related policies relevant to the role.
- Complete all housekeeping duties daily within the department.
Main Responsibilities:
- Create high-quality detailed technical drawings based on templates provided both digitally and physically by our subcontract template teams.
- Consistently meet the demands of the work queue and release to office targets ensuring OTIF KPI targets are achieved.
- Communicate with sales and subcontract template teams around any template irregularities submitted to ensure RFT targets are met, and errors corrected prior to Customer approval & RTM.
- Liaise with the production office around any bespoke complex fabrication work coming through to clarify the practicality of design and incorporate in any processing requirements that the production team may have in order to construct.
- Address live production queries and drive improvement within the role.
- Contribute to the reduction of CSF’s by playing an active part in the CI activities/projects with the aim of improving efficiency of the Worksurfaces division.
- Pay particular attention to providing customer delight to both internal and external customers.
- Recognise the importance of following company policies and procedures, but not afraid to identify and implement improvements when required.
