Being a Patient Services Apprentice, you'll learn through on and off the job training, underpinned by a national qualification how to provide a professional and efficient patient experience. We are not a 9-5 service and successful candidates must be able to work Monday - Friday, with some days starting at 7.45am, and others finishing at 7.00pm, but not on the same day!

Main duties of the job

Our previous Patient Services Apprentices have all secured permanent roles within the Practice, with one achieving an overall Apprenticeship with Distinction, and another being promoted to another role within the Practice. During your training period, you will be remunerated at the National Minimum / Living Wage. Upon achievement of your qualification, which will probably take up to 15 months and subject to a permanent role being available, you will be remunerated at £25,272 per annum, plus some of the best benefits available in the UK today.

Job responsibilities

The key focus of this role is to learn through on and off the job training, underpinned by a national qualification how to provide a professional, efficient and customer focused service to patients, doctors, colleagues and visitors, through the provision of high quality administrative activities for Danebridge Medical Practice. To work towards becoming the first point of contact for patients contacting the Practice and to portray the Practice in the highest possible professional basis; ensuring that enquiries from patients are efficiently and courteously handled to the mutual satisfaction of the Practice and patient.

Qualifications
  • Willing to actively participate and achieve within an agreed timeframe an Apprenticeship Diploma in Business Administration or Customer Service
  • GCSE Grade 4 or above (or equivalent) in English Language and mathematics
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • An ability to communicate effectively in the written and oral form and the understanding of how to develop and maintain constructive relationships
  • Ability to be self motivated and work co-operatively as part of a team
  • Managing one's own time and an ability to prioritise work
  • Attention to detail focused with an ability to produce written work to a high standard
Experience
  • An understanding of what is required to provide exceptional customer service face to face and on the telephone in a high volume service environment
  • Experience of using Information Technology for a range of different purposes, including: Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, Outlook and databases
