Full time position available for a Female Support Worker (Nights) specialising in Autism and learning disabilities. Please note shifts vary between 8pm and 8am, and we are looking for candidates who are fully flexible to cover all shifts and work any day of the week. No sponsorship available.

Support Worker - Job Summary:

As a Support Worker at Dandelion UK, you have a vital role in providing high-quality, person-centred care to clients with learning disabilities, autism, mental health, and other complex needs. Your work contributes to creating an environment where individuals feel empowered, respected, and valued. By offering your support, you enable them to live independently, pursue their goals, and lead fulfilling lives.

Support Worker - Job Description:

  • Actively listen to the person.
  • Adhere to Dandelion UK policies and guidelines, treating all clients with fairness and kindness.
  • Develop and implement individualised support plans in collaboration with the people supported, their families, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Act as a key worker.
  • Assist people with personal care needs, ensuring dignity and respect are always upheld.
  • Assist people with making positive choices around nutrition and support them to cook meals.
  • Support people to maintain their home.
  • Provide emotional and practical support to people in their daily activities, encouraging independence and personal growth.
  • Encourage and plan social, educational, and recreational activities that promote engagement and community inclusion.
  • Monitor health and wellbeing.
  • Administer medication safely and effectively.
  • Accompany people to health appointments.
  • Maintain clear and accurate records.
  • Advocate for each person's rights and needs within the organisation and the broader community.
  • Maintain confidentiality, committing not to divulge information to third parties unless consent to share information has been given in writing and agreed upon with the Service Manager.
  • Attend regular training and professional development activities to stay informed on best practices, guidelines, compliance, and relevant regulations.
  • Ensure a safe and supportive environment for the people supported, including responding to emergencies and incidents according to organisational protocols.
  • Carry out daily Health and Safety checks.
  • Contact the On Call Manager (out of hours) when managerial advice is essential to deal with an immediate situation.

Support Worker - We will support you with:

Support Worker - Desirable Education:

  • Degree in psychology, health and social care or related subject.
  • Care Certificate Level 2 or Level 3 Diploma in Health and Care.

Additional Requirements:

  • A clean driving license and access to a vehicle would be advantageous.
  • Background checks and clearances (e.g., DBS) will be conducted as part of the hiring process.

Working hours:

Our support is 24/7. The working pattern is on a rolling rota and includes a variety of shifts - early, lates, sleep-ins, weekends, bank holidays, and flexible shift patterns.
