We are looking for an experienced Design Manager to join Dandara Living Developments Legacy Division. You will manage the remedial design process across a range of residential projects, ensuring all solutions comply with the Building Safety Act, Building Regulations and associated legislation. Working with project teams, consultants, contractors and regulators, you will coordinate projects from initial surveys through to completion, Gateway submissions and final compliance.

About the role

  • Working hours: 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • Working arrangement: Hybrid, including two days working from home
  • Reporting to: Senior Design Manager
  • Responsible for: Document Controller

What you will do:

  • Lead and coordinate internal and external design teams throughout the remedial design process.
  • Ensure designs comply with the Building Safety Act, Building Regulations, PAS 9980, BS 9991, Approved Document B and CDM Regulations.
  • Develop and manage design programmes, information schedules and project deliverables.
  • Coordinate contractor and subcontractor design packages, drawings, technical submissions and as-built information using Asite.
  • Manage surveys and intrusive investigations, working with consultants to develop compliant remedial solutions.
  • Manage the process of achieving PAS 9980 compliance and EWS1 B1 certification.
  • Compile Gateway 2 and Gateway 3 applications and manage RFIs, design changes and Golden Thread information.
  • Liaise with the Building Safety Regulator, Building Control, Fire Authorities, Planning Authorities and other project stakeholders.
  • Attend site inspections, resolve live technical issues and oversee consultant, subcontractor and document control requirements.

What you will have:

  • A background in architecture, design engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience managing design on residential construction, remediation or building safety projects.
  • Strong knowledge of the Building Safety Act, Building Regulations, PAS 9980, BS 9991, Approved Document B and CDM Regulations.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary design teams, consultants and the design supply chain.
  • Experience using document management systems such as Asite.
  • Proficiency in CAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organisational, communication and technical problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and respond confidently to live design issues.
