We are seeking a motivated and commercially aware Quantity Surveyor to join our growing commercial team, supporting the successful delivery of high-quality residential developments from inception through to completion.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious surveying professional looking to further develop their career within a respected housebuilder. Working closely with the Commercial Manager and wider project teams, you'll play a key role in ensuring developments are delivered within budget while maintaining strong commercial controls throughout the build programme.
What you will do
- Assist with the preparation and management of site budgets.
- Support cost planning and cost control throughout the development lifecycle.
- Prepare monthly cost reports and quarterly CVRs for review by senior management.
- Provide ongoing financial advice and support to site management teams.
- Ensure accurate cost coding and financial reporting across projects.
- Prepare subcontract tender documentation and assist with tender analysis.
- Support subcontractor negotiations and package procurement.
- Prepare subcontract orders and associated documentation.
- Manage subcontractor payments, variations and final accounts.
- Chair subcontract pre-order meetings and maintain accurate records.
- Liaise with construction, technical, engineering, buying and design teams to support project delivery.
- Coordinate with contractors and external consultants regarding commercial matters.
- Attend project review meetings and site inspections.
- Assist with the procurement and scheduling of materials.
- Maintain accurate project records and commercial documentation.
- Obtain and review subcontractor risk assessments, method statements and safety documentation.
- Support compliance with company health and safety procedures.
- Contribute to the delivery of sustainability objectives, ESG initiatives and net zero ambitions.
About You
- Previous experience within a Quantity Surveying role in residential housebuilding or construction.
- Strong commercial awareness and cost management skills.
- Experience managing subcontractor accounts and procurement processes.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Relevant industry qualifications would be advantageous.
- Self‑motivated, proactive and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
