We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Finance Manager - European FP&A to join our European Finance team. Based at our Winnersh, UK site, you will work closely with operational teams in Europe and the finance teams in the UK, Austria and the US. This is a high-impact role offering broad exposure across European operations, commercial leadership, global finance teams and transformation initiatives.

Reporting to the European Finance Director, you will lead budgeting and forecasting for Europe, act as a trusted finance partner to regional operational and commercial teams, and drive strong operating expense control. As part of the European Finance leadership team you will play a key role in engaging and developing your two direct reports and the wider finance team and will lead improvement initiatives across the region and department.

The role is based on-site in our UK office and may include travel to Austria or the US on a periodic basis. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead the weekly, monthly and annual budget and forecast cycles for the European business unit, ensuring Molecular Devices and Danaher corporate reporting schedules are maintained and submitted on time, in collaboration with the global FP&A team.
  • Act as a strong finance partner to the European region, providing financial support to multiple finance and business stakeholders to help achieve business objectives.
  • Partner with the commercial function to drive profitable growth, supporting deal structures, commercial terms and compliance with accounting standards and policies.
  • Provide in-depth analysis of bookings, revenue and margin trends, identifying where forecasts may be misaligned with current market risks and opportunities, while driving operating cost control with European budget owners through monthly expense reporting, variance analysis and deep dives into key expense lines.
  • Support month-end close procedures, particularly around revenue recognition, margin analysis, inventory and manufacturing accounting, and provide analysis of performance against forecast as part of month-end submissions.
  • Maintain a strong control environment, ensuring adherence to delegation of authority and effective design and operation of controls.
  • Lead, motivate and develop a high-performing European finance team, while leading European project initiatives, system implementations, AI initiatives and process enhancements, and championing a culture of continuous improvement.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Qualified accountant: ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent with minimum 5 years post qualification experience with strong technical finance knowledge including revenue recognition.
  • Strong FP&A and business partnering experience, preferably within a global environment or US-owned organisation.
  • Experience of leading budgeting and forecasting cycles in a matrix environment.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach and develop finance team members.
  • Strong systems capability, including ERP and reporting/forecasting tools such as Oracle and OneStream, with advanced Excel and financial modelling skills.
  • Proven track record in dynamic, global environments with strict deadline, compliance and controls.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence diverse internal and external stakeholders.
