The Buyer I position negotiates favorable terms, volume discounts, and long-term contracts with suppliers, and prepares and processes requisitions and purchase orders for the procurement of goods, services, and supplies for customer-related business processes or for internal use. Drives ongoing supplier optimization and continuous improvement.

This position reports to the Manager EHS&S and Facilities and will be an on-site role in Nottingham, MD (part of the Baltimore Distribution Center). In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Manage purchase requisitions and purchase orders in SAP, including blanket/framework orders; communicate requirements to suppliers, expedite orders, resolve discrepancies, and serve as point of escalation for supplier issues.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels for facility and office supplies; monitor expenditures against budget; control cost, quality, delivery, inventory, and HSE-related activities.
  • Apply Danaher Business System (DBS) tools (e.g., Standard Work, Visual Management, Kanban) to ensure sustainable results; communicate order status and lead times to Leadership and internal stakeholders.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • High School Diploma or GED with at least 2 years of experience using continuous improvement tools (e.g., Lean, DMAIC, Standard Work).
  • Working knowledge of purchasing processes, SAP systems (or similar).
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and demonstrated administrative skills.
  • Strong sourcing, quoting, and supplier negotiation skills (LT, MOQ, pricing, packaging, PPV/PPC).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in a dynamic environment.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate within budget and cost frameworks.

The salary range for this role is $60,000-$70,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future. This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
