The Strategic Buyer is responsible for establishing long-term purchase orders/contracts in SAP and approval of Purchase Orders below a given threshold. Also will be managing overall vendor communication, negotiation and mitigation of price increase requests. This position reports to the Supplier Relationship Manager and is part of the Strategic Sourcing Team located in Redruth and will be an on-site role with some travel to visit suppliers required periodically.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Establish long-term purchase orders/contracts in SAP, approval of Purchase Orders below a given threshold
- Maintain up-to-date Purchasing Information Records
- Manage source lists in accordance with commodity strategy and supplier quality guidance
- Timely upkeep of Vendor Master Data to enable and streamline tactical PO Placement
- Manage overall vendor communication
- Negotiate and mitigate price increase requests
- Maintain favourable payment terms
- Participate in supplier visits and meetings as required
- Supplier rationalization, development and transition (outsourcing, insourcing, vendor to vendor)
- Identification, execution, and sustainment of projects in support of the Global Commodity Strategy
- Addition and timely maintenance of projects in the iSource Project Management Tool
- Tactical and Strategic Pursuit of Pall Industrial Sourcing KPI Targets
- Support the ongoing Sourcing Visual Management Process to meet project timelines and maintain cross-functional accountability
- Support, monitor, and mentor the site materials team members
- Work in accordance with escalation procedures to mitigate disruptive material shortage
- Ensure Purchasing policies and strategies are understood and implemented
- Partner with relevant site-level stakeholders (Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, etc) to facilitate project completion
- Interface with Materials Team to ensure manufacturing site inputs / requirements are aligned with commodity strategy
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Educated to A level standard, professional qualification - CIPS or with experience in a similar role
- Ideally experience of working with MRP systems such as SAP, Excel, Powerpoint, Supplier Databases
- Aerospace and/or manufacturing site experience would be advantageous
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
- Ability to travel both national and internationally anything up to once per month as required
- Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
