The Commodity Manager – Supplier Strategy & Contracts for Leica Biosystems is responsible to drive procurement activities for IVD diagnostic products supplied to Leica Biosystems’ subsidiaries and customers across Europe.

This position is part of the Customer Excellence team located in EMEA and will be on site in Newcastle. At Leica Biosystems, our vision is to advance cancer diagnostics and improve lives.

You will be a part of the team in the EMEA region and report to the Customer Care Operations Leader responsible for ensuring customer orders are processed, delivered & invoiced in a timely manner. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop and manage strategic supplier relationships for IVD diagnostic products across Europe.
  • Lead supplier selection, negotiation, and contract execution, ensuring compliance with all legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.
  • Collaborate closely with local subsidiaries to forecast demand and secure a reliable, cost-effective supply chain.
  • Conduct market and category analysis to identify risks, opportunities, and cost-optimization strategies.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Quality, Regulatory, Legal, Commercial) to align sourcing initiatives with business objectives.
  • Support Kaizen initiatives and continuous improvement programs to enhance supplier performance and overall supply chain efficiency.
  • Conduct supplier site visits and evaluations across Europe (travel up to 30%).

Qualifications

  • Professional procurement certification (MCIPS or equivalent).
  • Extensive experience of strategic sourcing or procurement experience, ideally within regulated industries.
  • Strong knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks relevant to supplier contracting.
  • Demonstrated success in supplier negotiation and stakeholder management.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel across Europe (up to 30%).

Nice to have

  • Experience with Danaher Business System (DBS) tools and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with supplier risk management, quality assurance, and GDPR compliance.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic cellular pathology processes.
  • Fluency in English (required); additional European languages are a strong advantage.
