The Senior Scientist is responsible for contributing to Abcam’s Antibody Product Portfolio expansion by designing validation strategies that characterize new antibodies. The role reports to the Team Leader, Immunocytochemistry and Flow Cytometry, and is part of the Validation Team located in Cambridge.
Responsibilities
- Design the best strategy for the validation of new antibodies for critical research areas such as cancer, immunology, and infectious diseases.
- Establish and troubleshoot new processes, with a focus on standardization and continuous improvement.
- Maintain high quality standards within the lab, ensuring compliance with all external and internal quality standards, including ISO 9001.
- Manage and mentor junior colleagues, creating an engaging environment.
- Ensure project objectives are met within agreed timelines and proactively communicate progress to stakeholders.
Qualifications
- PhD in Immunology, Immuno-Oncology, or Infectious Disease, or equivalent experience (typically 5 years in industry).
- 7+ years of experience between academia and industry.
- Strong Flow Cytometry background and practical expertise in multicolor immunophenotyping (extracellular and intracellular markers, human and murine).
- Extensive experience in establishing new assays and protocols.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills to facilitate open and constructive communication within and across teams worldwide.

- Experience in people management.
- Experience working to ISO 9001 quality standards.
