Role Overview
The Technical Consultant - Scientific Informatics will serve as the technical authority and solution owner across customer engagements. In this role, you will design and deliver end-to-end architectures that integrate IDBS platforms into complex life sciences ecosystems, ensuring scalability, compliance, and long-term customer success. You will act as the key technical partner to customer IT, data, and scientific stakeholders—translating scientific workflows and business requirements into scalable SaaS‑based architectures and integration strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end‑to‑end technical architecture; define and design scalable, secure, and compliant architectures aligning to GxP requirements across IDBS platforms, integrations, and customer environments, while ensuring alignment with enterprise IT strategy and long‑term success.
- Lead integration and data architecture, design and govern integrations between IDBS platforms and enterprise systems, define API strategies, event flows, data pipelines, and governance models that ensure data integrity and enable analytics, AI/ML, and seamless interoperability with enterprise systems while contributing to best practices, reusable architecture patterns, and integration frameworks for IDBS products.
- Drive technical design decisions, balancing configuration vs. customization, scalability vs cost vs time‑to‑value, while aligning solutions with cloud strategies, security frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide hands‑on technical leadership during delivery, guiding teams on complex integrations, resolving technical challenges, mitigating risks, and acting as the escalation point for architectural issues while leading architecture discussions with enterprise architects and senior stakeholders.
- Enable digital transformation and business value, lead customer transformation from on‑premises to SaaS‑based architectures reducing technical debt, and partner across pre‑sales and delivery to ensure successful, scalable customer outcomes by contributing to SOW and estimations.
Required Qualifications
- Consulting mindset & stakeholder engagement: Strong problem‑solving, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and design tailored solutions in complex customer environments.
- Enterprise architecture & integration expertise (4‑6+ years): Proven ability to design and deliver scalable, high‑performing architectures that integrate SaaS platforms into complex customer environments, ideally with exposure to scientific informatics ecosystems (LIMS, ELN, SDMS, CDS, data platforms).
- Data architecture & integrity: Deep understanding of data architecture, data modeling, governance, and data integrity principles to ensure reliable, compliant data flows across systems.
- SaaS solution design & trade‑offs: Experience designing scalable SaaS solutions and making informed trade‑offs (configuration vs customization, scalability vs cost) while working cross‑functionally with product, engineering, and customer teams.
- End‑to‑end delivery of complex integrations & customer transformation: Demonstrated success delivering complex integrations with high reliability and leading customers through modernization (legacy SaaS), driving measurable improvements in workflows, data accessibility, and business outcomes.
Travel Requirements
Up to 20% travel (domestically and internationally).
Preferred Qualifications
- Life sciences domain expertise: Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, chemistry, biochemistry, or related field; strong understanding of scientific workflows and regulatory environments.
