The Senior Scientist is responsible for contributing to Abcam's Antibody Product Portfolio expansion by designing validation strategies to characterize new antibodies.
This position reports to the Team Leader Immunocytochemistry and Flow Cytometry and is part of the Validation Team located in Cambridge and will be an on-site role.
Responsibilities
- Design validation strategy for new antibodies for critical research areas such as cancer, immunology, and infectious diseases.
- Establish and troubleshoot new processes, with a focus on standardization and continuous improvement.
- Maintain high quality standards within the lab, ensuring compliance with external and internal quality standards, including ISO9001.
- Manage and mentor junior colleagues, creating an engaging environment.
- Ensure project objectives are met within agreed timelines and proactively communicate progress to stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Ph D in Immunology, Immuno‑Oncology, or Infectious Disease or equivalent industry experience (typically 5 years) plus 7 years of combined academic and industrial experience.
- Strong Flow Cytometry background with practical expertise in multiparameter immunophenotyping experiments (extracellular and intracellular markers in human and murine).
- Extensive experience establishing new assays and protocols.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills to facilitate open and constructive communication within the team and across teams worldwide.
- Preferred
- Experience in people management.
- Prior experience working to ISO9001 quality standards.
