Position

Associate Scientist – Conjugation Development Platform Team

Location

Cambridge, UK – On‑site role

The Associate Scientist is responsible for performing antibody conjugation to various labels and subsequent purification using established protocols, in alignment with budget constraints and customer demand.

The role reports to the Principal Scientist and supports cross‑functional collaboration within Research and Development.

Responsibilities

  • Perform antibody conjugations using advanced and emerging technologies, assessing product quality pre‑ and post‑conjugation with analytical techniques such as HPLC, FPLC (AKTA) and spectroscopy.
  • Develop and evaluate novel conjugation technologies and antibody labeling reagents, supporting cross‑functional teams and providing regular technical updates.
  • Write and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Batch Manufacturing Records (BMRs), and support the cross‑training of colleagues.
  • Share newly developed and validated conjugation methodologies with the manufacturing team.
  • Maintain accurate experimental records using BMRs, laboratory notebooks, risk assessments and the Oracle ERP system, ensuring adherence to SOPs and ISO9011:2015 standards.
  • Collaborate with downstream R&D teams to ensure effective communication and project alignment.

Qualifications

  • Ph D in a scientific discipline or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience in an industrial setting (work placement beneficial but not essential).
  • Previous experience in antibody conjugation, QC of conjugates, and assay development.
  • Hands‑on experience with protein and conjugate purification methods (SEC, IEX, HIC).
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering projects on time, with excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Self‑motivated, capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
  • Experience in cross‑functional teams is a plus.
