The Financial Systems Accountant is responsible for acting as the key link between Finance and IT, owning and optimising NetSuite and related financial systems. They will support day-to-day system administration, lead continuous system and process improvements, and translate finance requirements into effective technical solutions. Working closely with Finance stakeholders and IT subject matter experts, they will streamline end-to-end financial processes, enhance system functionality, and ensure data accuracy and integrity. This position reports to the Operational Excellence Manager and is part of the Finance Department located in Woking UK and will be an on‑site role.
Key Responsibilities
- NetSuite Platform Ownership & Operational Excellence: Own the day-to-day administration and configuration of NetSuite, including forms, fields, workflows, dashboards, reports, saved searches, and permissions. Ensure system stability, performance, and scalability to support evolving business needs. Act as the primary expert for NetSuite across Finance and the wider organisation.
- Process Improvement, Automation & DBS Mindset: Identify and eliminate inefficiencies through automation, standardisation, and process redesign. Translate end-to-end business processes into scalable system designs and workflows. Implement and enhance automated accounting and finance processes using automation tools, SQL, and AI-driven technologies.
- Systems Integration & Technical Problem Solving: Support and optimise integrations between NetSuite and enterprise platforms (e.g. Salesforce, OneStream, Concur, Wipfli). Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, applying analytical thinking to identify root causes and sustainable solutions. Partner with IT and vendors to ensure reliable data flows and system interoperability.
- Governance, Compliance & Documentation: Maintain SOX compliance and ensure NetSuite adheres to internal controls, security standards, and regulatory requirements. Create and maintain clear, auditable documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures. Balance speed and innovation with strong governance and risk management.
- Stakeholder Partnership, Enablement & Strategic Road-mapping: Act as the translator between Finance and IT, explaining accounting concepts to non-finance partners and technical requirements to finance stakeholders. Deliver training, onboarding, and ongoing user enablement to drive adoption and capability. Develop and own the NetSuite systems roadmap, aligned to business priorities and future growth. Build strong cross‑functional relationships, challenge the status quo, and influence change at scale.
Qualifications
- Qualified/part-qualified accountant or bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Demonstrated NetSuite system admin experience (preferably One World, multi‑subsidiary).
- Significant experience in System Administration, Maintenance and Compliance, Process Improvement & Optimisation.
- User level experience with OneStream.
- Experience in Development & Support including automation and digital tools.
- Experience in automation tools (SQL, AI tools, workflow automation).
Additional Desired Experience
- Advanced Excel.
- Knowledge of data governance, security protocols, and compliance standards.
- Proficiency in additional programming languages and data analysis tools.
