Lead and drive accountability of the Dana Safety culture at all levels of the business, setting the standard of continuous improvement in HSSE performance. Responsible for providing HSSE direction, support and guidance to Dana Petroleum business and managing HSE managers and UK team. Accountable for identifying, implementing and leading initiatives, processes and procedures that deliver Dana Petroleum's overall HSSE culture, strategy and business objectives. Providing management and staff with support, expertise, direction and guidance to permit the delivery of HSSE Standards and business objectives.
Working collaboratively with UK, Egypt, Netherlands (and future) HSE teams to implement a one Dana performance, with responsibility for development of a positive culture to effectively deliver excellence in HSSE within the Dana business and security support throughout Dana.
Roles and Responsibilities
- HSE Regulator interface and Dana focal point
- Synergi HSE database case and action focal point
- Custodian of Dana Control of Work system
- Provide a safe working environment that protects against injury and minimises work-related ill health
- Provide appropriate security protection for employees and assets
- Ensure compliance with applicable legislation and apply Dana's standards and oil industry best practice in locations where local laws do not exist
- Identify and manage HSSE risks in a systematic way as part of Dana's risk management framework
- Create clear accountabilities and expectations for HSSE at every level of the organisation
- Identify and manage risks associated with any form of change in our organisation
- Ensure that our employees and contractors understand their HSSE accountabilities and are aware of the behaviours expected by Dana
- Communicate and report openly on HSSE objectives and performance
- Make sure that appropriate emergency response, crisis management and business continuity plans are in place and are regularly tested
- Ensure HSSE incidents are adequately investigated, root causes are identified and communicated, take effective action to prevent recurrence and identify opportunities for organisational learning
- Provide assurance that the business has effective HSSE systems and processes in place
- Monitor to assure compliance with UK and International regulatory requirements, Company Policy, Standards, Objectives and Plans
- Support management teams to implement Company Policy, Strategy, Objectives and Plans
- Deliver accurate and timely HSSE reporting to meet Company and Stakeholder requirements
- Provide analysis of HSSE data and key information that identifies improvement areas that actions and facilitates decision-making
- Deliver a formal process that develops a positive safety culture and awareness of the impact of personal behaviours on HSSE performance
- Establish relationships within Stakeholder Management in relation to HSSE performance
- Ensure that all HSSE activities are budgeted and monitor expenditures to ensure cost effective delivery within agreed financial limits
- Provide Health, Safety, Security and Environmental support to Dana management teams and company Chief Operating Officer
- Act as Dana's interface to relevant industry bodies i.e. OEUK, Step Change in Safety and hold the role of Fisheries Liaison officer
- Accountable focal point for Dana Petroleum Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) deliverables and values, developing the annual ESG report
HSEQ Responsibilities
Everyone working for or on behalf of Dana Petroleum has the following responsibilities with regard to his or her work to:
- Familiarise with the Dana Policies, including the policies on HSE, Risk Management and Major Hazards ensuring they are fully conversant with the One Dana Management System.
- Familiarise with the work and be aware of all associated risks for People, the Environment, Assets and Reputation (PEAR);
- Understand and comply with their roles and responsibilities
- Fully participate in the Dana Serious About Safety Program and additional HSEQ training or instruction by or on behalf of Dana Petroleum;
- Safety Oversight: Ensure all safety standards and procedures are strictly followed. Report any incident, near miss, hazards (unsafe acts/situations) and improvement suggestions;
- Risk Management: Conduct regular risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate identified risks. Ensure all risk assessments are correctly documented.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with relevant regulations and standards, ensuring all correspondence is correctly recorded and cascade
Job specific skills and knowledge
- NEBOSH Diploma Qualified
- Chartered Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health
- Oil and Gas experience ideally gained in an upstream operating environment
- Demonstrates strong team building and management experience with a reputation for building high performing teams while creating an environment that fosters commitment to a common vision and openness of knowledge sharing
