Role Description
This is a full‑time, on‑site Dental Nurse role based in Hove.
The Dental Nurse will support dentists and hygienists during clinical procedures, including preparing the surgery, setting up instruments and materials, and providing chairside assistance throughout treatments.
Daily responsibilities include maintaining high standards of infection control, sterilising and organising instruments, updating patient records, and ensuring the treatment room is ready and safe for each appointment.
The role involves communicating clearly with patients, helping them feel comfortable, explaining basic post‑treatment instructions, and supporting the wider practice team with administrative and reception tasks as needed.
The Dental Nurse will follow clinical governance, safeguarding, and health and safety procedures, while contributing to a positive, collaborative practice culture.
Qualifications
- Recognised Dental Nurse qualification and current registration (or eligibility for registration) with the General Dental Council (GDC).
- Experience assisting with a range of dental procedures (e. g., restorative, preventive, and routine NHS and private treatments) and confident chairside support skills.
- Strong infection control knowledge, including instrument sterilisation, cross‑contamination prevention, and adherence to practice health and safety protocols.
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills to support patients of diverse backgrounds, including the ability to provide reassurance and clear information.
- Competence in using dental practice management systems, maintaining accurate clinical records, and handling basic administrative tasks.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced team environment, demonstrating reliability, organisation, and attention to detail.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development, openness to training in new technologies and techniques, and alignment with patient‑centred care values.
- Previous experience in a general dental practice setting in the UK is desirable; experience with both NHS and private care is an advantage.
