We are looking for experienced, confident dentists to join our busy NHS urgent care centre in Woolston, Southampton. This is not a routine general practice role—this position is suited to clinicians who thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and enjoy the challenge of emergency dentistry.
What You Need to Know
- This is a dedicated emergency and stabilisation service.
- Our focus is on relieving pain, managing urgent conditions, and stabilising patients—not delivering comprehensive courses of treatment.
- You will typically see 35–45 patients per day.
- Patient flow includes NHS 111 referrals, walk-ins, and stabilisation cases.
- No two days are the same; adaptability is key.
We are looking for clinicians who can work efficiently without compromising patient care, and who are comfortable making quick, sound clinical decisions.
Performance & UDA Expectations
- Daily UDA targets apply (details provided on enquiry).
- Overachievement is paid at £/UDA.
- No financial penalties for underperformance.

What We’re Looking For
- GDC registered dentist.
- Valid NHS performer number (unconditional).
- Experience in general dentistry (urgent care experience desirable).
- Up-to-date indemnity and immunisation records.
- A strong communicator—clear coordination with nurses and front desk is essential.
- Able to work at pace while maintaining quality care.
- Comfortable in a high-throughput clinical setting.
Role Details
- Location: 58 Portsmouth Rd, Woolston, Southampton SO19 9AF.
- Start Date: Immediate.
- Shifts available: Monday: 8:00–17:00, Wednesday: 8:00–17:00, Friday: 8:00–17:00, Saturday: 8:00–14:00, Sunday: 8:00–14:00.
- Day rate: £600 during the week, £450 Saturday and Sunday.
- Travel expenses: Negotiable.
