We are seeking a proactive and detail-driven Quality Engineer to support the delivery of complex engineering and automation projects within a fast-paced operational environment at Heathrow Airport. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring installations are delivered safely, efficiently, defect-free, and fully compliant with project specifications and industry standards.
The Role: As a Quality Engineer, you will act as the quality gatekeeper across mechanical and electrical installations, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standards and remains fully compliant, audit-ready, and defect-free throughout the project lifecycle. You will work closely with project teams, installation contractors, consultants, and clients to oversee installation quality, resolve non-conformities, and support commissioning readiness. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys being on-site, solving technical challenges, and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote and maintain a strong safety-first culture
- Verify installations meet approved designs, specifications, and industry standards
- Conduct inspections, visual audits, and quality reviews across project sites
- Validate benchmark mock-ups with site supervisors and contractors
- Identify defects and non-conformities, lead root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
- Ensure all quality documentation, inspections, snag lists, and as-built records are complete and audit-ready
- Support and execute pre-commissioning activities to ensure readiness for functional commissioning
- Participate in final walkthroughs and defect-free handovers
- Collaborate with engineering, commissioning, and project delivery teams
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and installer training needs
- Challenge and escalate non-compliant activities when required
