This Quality & Compliance Manager role will play a key part in supporting major automation and engineering programmes at Heathrow Airport, ensuring quality assurance, compliance and continuous improvement are embedded across project delivery and maintenance operations.
About You:
You will be an experienced Quality Manager, Compliance Manager or Continuous Improvement professional with a strong background within engineering, manufacturing, automation, construction, logistics or other technically complex industries. Experience within automated handling systems, airport infrastructure or industrial automation environments would be highly advantageous.
Key areas of focus include:
- Driving a proactive "Right First Time" quality culture across engineering and operational teams.
- Maintaining and improving the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 and customer quality requirements.
- Leading internal and external audit programmes.
- Supporting project delivery from planning through commissioning, handover and warranty.
- Managing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and root cause investigations.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives across projects and maintenance contracts.
- Supporting supplier quality assurance and contractor performance management.
- Delivering quality training and awareness programmes across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement quality objectives, strategies and performance targets.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives across projects and operational functions.
- Manage and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Plan and deliver internal audit programmes and support external audits.
- Ensure quality requirements are achieved throughout project delivery.
- Monitor quality KPIs, risks, trends and corrective actions.
- Lead investigations into significant quality issues using recognised methodologies.
- Facilitate CAPA processes and track actions to completion.
- Support supplier quality assurance and contractor performance management.
- Deliver quality training, coaching and awareness programmes.
- Provide regular reporting and quality performance updates to leadership teams.
Essential Requirements:
- Degree qualified in Engineering, Manufacturing, Construction, Quality Management or a related discipline.
- 5+ years' experience in Quality Management, Compliance or Technical Management roles.
- Strong experience within engineering, manufacturing, automation, construction or similar technical environments.
- Proven experience managing ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
- Experience leading internal and external audit programmes.
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance, quality control and compliance processes.
- Experience using root cause analysis methodologies such as 8D, 5 Whys and FMEA.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and leadership skills.
- Strong analytical and reporting capabilities.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Experience:
- Automated material handling systems (MHS) or airport automation experience.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement qualifications.
- CQI, IRCA or equivalent quality management certifications.
- Experience supporting quality performance across major projects and service contracts.
