About the Role
London Gatwick Airport is seeking a Planning Manager (Major Projects) to join the team at the world’s most efficient single-runway airport. You’ll play a pivotal role in delivering a substantial investment plan to enhance our airport infrastructure and facilities.
Our current projects range from £50m to £350m, including:
- The International Departure Lounge (IDL) in the North and South Terminals (£500m+)
- Pier 6 Extension (£140m)
As Planning Manager, you will work closely with our Programme Manager to ensure the successful delivery of projects valued at £150m+, implementing robust planning and assurance processes to drive project performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning & Scheduling: Create, maintain, and manage schedules across the full project lifecycle, including internal and external interfaces. Manage control programmes, evaluate contracts, assess compensation events, conduct delay analysis, and drive schedule improvements.
- Team Leadership: Lead and manage planning teams, applying expertise across multiple projects to achieve strategic goals. Support team growth through mentoring, coaching, and knowledge sharing.
- Programme Management Support: Review programmes, assist with trend and change processes, reporting, and risk management, while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Health, Safety & Environmental Excellence: Uphold world-class HSE standards across projects and contractors.
What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking a flexible, innovative, and solution-oriented professional who thrives in a live airport environment. You will ideally have:
- Experience as a Senior Planner on multi-year infrastructure projects (£100m+)
- Experience leading small teams
- Strong knowledge of Primavera P6 and commercial acumen
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas clearly
- Proven leadership and influencing skills, with experience motivating and developing others
