An established expert in the Fit Out construction market is now seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to be based in their Portsmouth office. The Contracts Manager will be overseeing and managing multiple Retail & Leisure fit out projects from start through to completion. These projects are mainly within the Southern areas of the country; however, due to key clients, projects can take the successful Contracts Manager around the country.

What to expect?

  • You will manage key clients within the Retail & Leisure construction sectors, all within the £150K - £5M value.
  • You will ensure that all works are completed on time, budget and to the highest of standards.
  • You will have good communication skills and be able to negotiate with clients, architects, and structural engineers.
  • You will be the first point of contact for the client, design team, site managers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Production of programme of works for projects.
  • Overall commercial responsibility by ensuring projects valuations and practical completion certificates are issued in a timely manner to guarantee swift payments.
  • You are likely to be in the office 3 days a week.

The Contracts Manager?

  • Experience in Construction, with Fit Out being a bonus.
  • Experience in managing others and good leadership/people management skills.
  • Good understanding and technical knowledge of the construction industry, including the ability to read architectural drawings and understand the construction process.
  • The ability to take the lead of the programme.
  • The ability to fit in well, work as a team member and have initiative and enthusiasm.
  • A good knowledge and understanding of the latest Health & Safety legislation and Building Regulations.
  • You should understand JCT contracts.
  • Good commercial sense is imperative.
  • You will also be experienced in decision making.
