We are seeking an ambitious and commercially minded Estimator / Commercial Manager to join our growing team based in the Reading area. This is a varied and rewarding role that combines estimating, commercial management, and project support responsibilities, offering the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects across the UK.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the preparation and management of tenders, quotations, and customer orders, ensuring projects are accurately costed, commercially successful, and delivered in line with client expectations. You will work closely with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, helping to drive successful outcomes while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare, review, and manage tenders, quotations, and customer orders.
- Carry out site surveys and assessments to support accurate estimating and project planning.
- Produce detailed cost estimates using Excel spreadsheets, drawings, and measurement software.
- Liaise effectively with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
- Monitor project budgets, costs, and programmes to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
- Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, company procedures, and client specifications.
- Support negotiations with clients and suppliers, helping to secure commercially advantageous outcomes.
- Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities throughout project delivery.
- Maintain accurate records of contracts, project documentation, correspondence, and variations.
- Provide administrative support relating to contract and commercial management activities.
- Assist with project scheduling, tracking deliverables, and reporting progress.
- Proven experience in estimating, commercial management, contract administration, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of estimating processes, commercial compliance, and project documentation.
- Experience using Excel extensively for cost planning, pricing, and analysis.
- Competency in interpreting technical drawings and using measurement/take-off software.
- Excellent project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and progress tracking.
- Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and MS Project.
- Experience within the construction, interior fit-out, refurbishment, or related sectors.
