We are looking for an experienced Lead Full Stack Developer to join a client based in Newcastle. The role will drive architectural decisions and ensure best practices in both front-end and back-end development, working closely with the Project Delivery Manager, key stakeholders, product managers and 3rd party providers.
Key responsibilities:- Design and oversee scalable, secure and high-performing system architectures
- Lead full stack development efforts (front-end + back-end)
- Set and enforce coding standards, architecture patterns, and development best practices
- Conduct code reviews, mentor developers and provide technical guidance
- Build end-to-end features across the entire stack
- Lead the integration of APIs, databases, and third-party services
- Lead the migration of business logic into new API microservices
- Optimize application performance and ensure high availability
- Collaborate with DevOps to improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies
- Partner with product owner to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Work with UI/UX teams to implement responsive, user-friendly interfaces
- Communicate project status, technical decisions and risks to the Delivery Manager and other key stakeholders
- Liaise with legacy application experts to optimise data migration, ensure backward compatibility and plan the phased decommissioning of legacy systems.
- Full stack development experience, including the re-platforming and migration of legacy systems.
- Expertise in back-end technologies such as Node.js, Python, Java, Ruby, or .NET
- Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, and database design (SQL and NoSQL)
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Proficient with Git and modern CI/CD tools
- Experience of using development management tools such as Jira, Confluence, GitLab
- Expertise in using AI CASE tools to improve development productivity
