Essential Skills / Competencies:
- Thorough experience as an Oracle PL/SQL Developer, Support Analyst or DBA.
- Good knowledge of PL/SQL is a must; exposure to Oracle partitioning, RAC, Dataguard and RMAN would be advantageous.
- The database is Oracle 11g running on Unix.
- Suitable training can be provided and Oracle Certification would be encouraged.
- This position would suit either an experienced PL/SQL Developer/Support Analyst who would like exposure to Oracle Database Administration; or as an all-round Oracle database specialist who does not mind a challenge and would like to work on something big!
- Experience of development and/or support of Oracle PL/SQL modules in a large system.
- Basic knowledge of Oracle Database Administration in a Development or Production role.
- Good interpersonal skills and willingness to deal directly with customers.
- MS-Office tools including Word, Excel, Visio.
Underlying technology skill requirements:
- Must have development/support skills in all of the following:
- Exposure to Oracle 10g or later (the target version is Oracle 11gR1, soon to be upgraded to Oracle 12c).
- In depth knowledge and experience in writing Oracle SQL statements and PL/SQL packages.
- Exposure to Unix (the target is Sun Solaris, but any flavour of Unix or Linux is acceptable).
Desirable Skills / Competencies:
- Performance Tuning of SQL and PL/SQL.
- Advanced PL/SQL techniques (analytical functions, collection handling, bulk processing, objects, LOBs).
- Experience of Oracle Partitioning.
- Exposure to Oracle RAC, Oracle RMAN, Oracle Data Guard.
- Knowledge of Oracle Weblogic, Oracle Service Bus, or other Application Server technology.
This temporary contract is inside IR35 and will require working under the direction of the client delivery manager as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will follow established delivery processes and working practices. This temporary contract requires the successful candidate to undergo and be eligible for UK Security Vetting at SC/DV level. Clearance sponsorship will be provided where required. Due to the nature of the work, candidates should meet the relevant residency requirements. If applicable, reserved post nationality restrictions will be confirmed by the client.
