My client is a global IT consultancy. They are seeking an experienced Oracle 11g Database Administrator to join a structured production support team responsible for maintaining business critical systems operating within a 24 by 7 live service environment. This role focuses on operational stability, incident resolution, performance optimisation and secure database management across a high availability Oracle estate.
The Role
- You will provide 2nd and 3rd line database support for Oracle 11g databases supporting critical production services.
- Working closely with application support, infrastructure and service management teams, you will ensure availability, resilience and performance in line with agreed service levels.
- The position operates within a formal ITIL aligned support model and includes participation in a 24 by 7 support rota, including out of hours and major incident response.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide production support for Oracle 11g databases within a 24 by 7 live service environment.
- Diagnose and resolve incidents, including priority and major incidents.
- Perform database performance tuning and optimisation.
- Manage RMAN backup and recovery processes.
- Support Data Guard and disaster recovery arrangements.
- Implement database changes through controlled change management processes.
- Apply security patches and maintain compliance standards.
- Produce and maintain operational documentation and support runbooks.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Strong hands on experience supporting Oracle 11g in a 24 by 7 production environment.
- Proven expertise in RMAN backup and recovery.
- Experience with Oracle Data Guard.
- Solid SQL and PL SQL capability.
- Experience of performance diagnostics and tuning.
- Experience supporting Oracle on Linux or Unix platforms.
- Familiarity with ITIL aligned service management processes.
- Experience supporting high availability and mission critical systems.
Desirable
- Experience with OEM, ASM or RAC.
- Exposure to later Oracle versions.
- Scripting capability in Shell or Python.
- Experience within regulated or high assurance environments.

This temporary contract is outside IR35 and will be delivered on a statement-of-work basis. The supplier will determine the method, resources, and approach to deliver the agreed outcomes.
This temporary contract requires the successful candidate to undergo and be eligible for UK Security Vetting at SC/DV level. Clearance sponsorship will be provided where required. Due to the nature of the work, candidates should meet the relevant residency requirements.
