Oracle Database Administrator - Location: Manchester or Barrow in Furness - 3 days onsite/week - 6 initial months contract
\nThis temporary contract is inside IR35 and will require working under the direction of the client delivery manager as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will follow established delivery processes and working practices.
\nThis role requires the successful candidate to undergo and be eligible for UK Security Vetting at SC level.

\nRole Description:
\n* Focusing on scalability, integrity, performance, availability, security, monitoring and troubleshooting of core DB clusters
\n * Owning core database clusters in Production as well as on a wide range of technologies
\n * Reporting into the Operations Manager and working alongside the Senior DBA
\n * Oracle schema object sizing.
\n * Monitor data block organisation.
\n * Monitor physical storage and contention.
\n * Monitor tablespace utilization
\n * Memory usage.
\n * Physical I/O tuning.
\n * Lock monitoring.
\n * Database resource utilization.
\n * Alert log, Backup status
\n * Database free space.
\n * Performance tuning ratios
\n * Check Invalid objects
\n * Monitor build-up of trace files.
\n * Monitor growth of alert logs.
\n * Purge log and trace files, which are no longer required.
\n * Database Monitoring
\n * Cache (Buffer Cache, Library Cache, Dictionary Cache) hit/miss ratios
\n * Point in time database recovery, using on-line redo logs.
\n * Provide advice during database restoration following a crash or media failure.
\n * Monitor Archive log retention period for database recoverability and highlight issues/limitations.
\n * Ensure database changes are reflected into the backup strategy.

\n * Shared pool usage
\n * Customized DBMS_JOBS running
\n * Logical I/O on the database
\n * SAR on the database server
\n * Locks on the database
\n * Sessions and session queries
\n * Monitor database availability issues
\n * Monitor on-line and archived log file usage
\n * Monitor roll-back segment usage
\n * EARS call handling for Oracle DBA team
\n * Change handling for Oracle DBA team
\n * Participate in implementation planning
\n * Export & Import data between production and test instances as required
