Job Description

AVEVA PI System Specialist/AVEVA PI Consultant - Onsite in Aberdeen preferred but will consider Remote with ad hoc trips to Aberdeen which will be expensed - 9 months - market rates Inside IR35

We require an experienced AVEVA PI System Specialist to support the consolidation and migration of PI environments as part of the TEPUK integration programme. The role focuses on technical execution across architecture, migration, integration, and stabilisation.

Core Responsibilities

PI System Engineering

  • Install, configure, and commission AVEVA PI System components
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • PI Data Archive
    • Asset Framework (AF)
    • PI Interfaces (including PI-to-PI)
    • Visualisation layers (eg PI Vision)

Security & Governance

  • Implement PI security best practices:
    • Identity management and access control
  • Secure multi-tier environments across:
    • OT/IT boundaries
    • DMZs and Level 4 architectures

Data Archive Management

  • Execute backup, restoration, and validation of PI Data Archive
  • Ensure data integrity during migration and recovery
  • Perform archive cleanup and reprocessing:
    • Removal of divested assets, tags, and historical data

System Integration

  • Design and implement PI-to-PI interfaces across network boundaries
    • eg OT DMZ to Level 4 PI environments
  • Configure and migrate OT PI Interfaces
  • Validate integrations and data flows end-to-end
  • Experience working with third-party PI Collectives

Migration & Consolidation

  • Lead end-to-end migration activities including:
    • PI AF databases (maintaining structure, hierarchy, references)
    • PI Analytics (analysis services, event frames)
    • PI Vision (dashboards and displays)
  • Migrate applications across environments with minimal downtime
  • Reconfigure systems to align with target architecture

Operational Support

  • Support post-migration validation, testing, and performance tuning
  • Provide troubleshooting and incident resolution during transition
  • Assist users during migration and hypercare period
  • Produce clear documentation:
    • System configurations
    • Migration activities
    • Operational procedures

Experience Required

  • Proven delivery of AVEVA PI System implementations and migrations
  • Strong experience across OT/IT integrated environments
  • Hands-on experience with PI-to-PI architectures and data migration
  • Ability to operate independently within a structured programme

Nice to Have

  • Experience in large-scale PI consolidation or divestment programmes
  • Knowledge of industrial network segmentation (Purdue Model/ISA-95)
