Job Description
The Area Head of Technology, Customer & Operations (TCO) will establish close and integrated ties with operating business units by defining the strategy for implementing WMS applications and integrations to help the business improve efficiencies, reduce costs, and support business growth. The role will also support the effective day-to-day running of all operations through capacity alignment, team enablement, and business engagement. The successful individual will be expected to be fluent in business English. This role can be located anywhere in the UK close to our UK sites.
Specific Responsibilities
- Manage a project pipeline from the Maersk Contract Logistics business to ensure TCO colleagues are adequately resourced to meet required timelines.
- Attend business review meetings with potential, new, or existing customers, gathering, understanding, and following up on areas of concern and improvement.
- Work with business and operational teams to understand their requirements and deliver appropriate IT solutions.
- Develop and upskill the TCO team to enhance capability and performance.
- Co-ordinate with global teams and extended Maersk colleagues to support any necessary WMS development or customisation.
- Work with the Platform Product Owner, Maersk.com, and other internal teams to ensure the smooth operation of IT services and infrastructure.
- Ensure technical KPIs are maintained across change and support functions.
- Review existing implementations to identify improvement opportunities.
- Establish and maintain change control, incident management, and escalation procedures.
- Act as a key communicator and escalation point during major incidents.
- Support system migrations and upgrades.
- Collaborate with Business Development teams as a technical representative for new business opportunities.
- Provide IT key account management services to business-critical customers as required.
- Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement, cost savings, and innovation.
- Foster a collaborative environment among team members and peers, promoting strong engagement and alignment.
Person Specification - Leadership and Strategy
- Proven experience leading a large country or multi-country cluster, demonstrating the ability to independently drive large-scale technical initiatives and business transformation programmes.
- A track record of building, developing, and motivating high-performing teams across diverse geographies and disciplines.
- Strong ability to influence senior stakeholders without direct authority, aligning priorities, managing expectations, and fostering collaboration across business and IT functions.
- Demonstrated experience in cross-functional collaboration, partnering effectively with operations, supply chain, and commercial teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- A strategic thinker with the capability to translate business objectives into actionable technology roadmaps and measurable outcomes.
- Fluent in English, with proven experience leading across multiple areas and countries within Europe.
Person Specification - Technical and Functional Expertise
- Strong proficiency in SQL (MS SQL or equivalent), with the ability to extract, analyse, and report data to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Hands-on experience with Business Intelligence (BI) tools, enabling data-driven insights and performance optimisation.
- Proven ability to implement, configure, and support Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and related enterprise applications.
- Experience executing end-to-end project lifecycles, from design and development to testing, go-live, and user training.
- Skilled in managing multiple concurrent IT projects, including system migrations, upgrades, integrations, and outages, ensuring minimal business disruption.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and PMI project management standards (e.g., scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk, and stakeholder management).
- Adept at creating and maintaining documentation, including configurations, integrations, technical specifications, test scripts, and user training materials.
