We are seeking a forward-thinking Progress Software Development Manager to help shape the next chapter of our technology landscape. This is a key role where you’ll combine hands-on technical leadership with strategic input, driving modernization and evolution within IT systems - previous experience with Progress technologies is essential. Working alongside an existing Software Development Manager, you’ll lead a talented team, champion innovation, and deliver high-quality software and solutions that enable the business to move faster, work smarter, and improve customer outcomes. What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead and develop the software development team, including contractors.
- Architect and design modern, scalable applications, and integrations, transitioning from legacy systems where possible and appropriate.
- Design and deliver robust, secure, and high-performing software solutions and integrations.
- Work with stakeholders and change teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Oversee the full software development lifecycle, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
- Promote and implement best practice in coding standards, security, performance, and DevOps.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues efficiently and support continuous improvement.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and drive improvement and innovation within the team.
What we’re Looking For
- Degree educated in IT / Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in a Software Development Manager or similar leadership role.
- Strong experience managing and developing technical teams.
- Experience with Progress OpenEdge ABL/4GL.
- Background in modernising legacy applications and systems.
- Knowledge of Agile and DevOps practices.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
