Working as part of a small quality assurance team, you will help to ensure that all manufactured products meet Food Safety and Quality standards by carrying out sampling, testing, measuring, recording, and analysing results in collaboration with the wider laboratory team.
Location: 5 William Street, Felling, Gateshead, NE10 0JW
Please note: There are two positions available; however, salary will vary.
- Position 1: Tuesday to Friday, 40.25 hours per week, Tuesday 20:15 - 07:30, Wednesday, Friday 20:30 - 07:30
- Position 2: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 08:30 - 16:30
Offer is subject to a satisfactory D&A test.
Duties & Main Responsibilities:
- Collect and prepare samples when required (for internal and external testing in order to meet customer needs)
- Preparation and testing of analytical samples including basic wet chemistry techniques in accordance with laboratory test procedures
- Calculation of laboratory test results
- Ensure all results are recorded in the ERP system and on controlled documentation
- Provide effective clearance of the laboratory testing results to agreed lead-times
- Ensure that weekly and monthly laboratory calibrations are carried out to specified standards
- Conduct periodic audits as and when requested
- Ensure food safety is maintained at all times
- Supports a food safety excellence culture
Candidate requirements:
- 5 GCSEs including English, Maths and Science
- Good numeracy and literacy; able to write clearly and accurately
- A good eye for detail, diligent in following procedures
- Good IT skills
