Our Trainee Governance Manager role offers the opportunity to build a career in the pensions industry within Dalriada Trustees Limited (Dalriada). We have opportunities available in London and Leeds. As a Trainee we offer a structured training plan that will help you grow your knowledge and drive your career. As part of your training, you will be exposed to various aspects of pensions, equipping you with the knowledge and skills needed to become a credible and effective Pensions professional. You will also have the opportunity to undertake relevant professional qualifications and be given paid time off for study.
In support of our team, you will contribute to a wide range of work within the pensions sector, incorporating technical support to in-house pension teams at some of the UK’s largest organisations and to their Trustees of their pension schemes. This provides the opportunity to enhance your technical abilities and develop core technical pensions competencies on a daily basis whilst working in a challenging environment as part of a rapidly growing, innovative firm. You will liaise with colleagues throughout our office locations and work on clients from a diverse range of industries.
This role will be based in London or Leeds, we operate a hybrid policy with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office (there will be more regular attendance during the first 6 months). Please confirm you are able to commit to regular office attendance and which is your preferred office.
As a Trainee Governance Manager, you will:
- Help provide a client service that is proactive, timely and fully focused on the needs of the client and maintains the excellent reputation that has been established by our impressive team.
- Be encouraged to use your creativity and critical thinking to come up with tailor-made solutions to unique problems.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills through regular interaction with clients.
- Support Trustee meeting management by writing agendas, collating meeting packs and learning to write highly technical minutes.
- Carry out a range of projects from establishing new pension schemes, scheme mergers and winding up schemes.
- Draft reports and presentations to clients in support of their decision making in managing their pension scheme arrangements.
- Act as key contact to clients, answering a range of queries over the phone and via written communication becoming effective and confident in providing clear and accurate information.
- Perform in accordance with financial targets and standards; time recording, budget monitoring, billing and all other aspects of financial management.
- Work with and support expert and senior colleagues developing skills and knowledge across our range of services by delivering on client needs.
Essential Criteria:
- Ability to work in your preferred office a minimum of two days a week (more in the first six months).
- Ability to travel to client meetings across the UK.
- Excellent IT Skills and fully competent in Microsoft packages, e.g. Word and Excel, with an aptitude for learning other systems.
- Experience of working proactively and using your own initiative to complete tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills.
- Ability to display a keen interest in the industry and environment in which we operate.

Location: Flexible within commutable distance of either our London or Leeds offices and able to travel to our other offices across the UK when required. We offer Hybrid working, with a minimum of 2 days per week in the agreed office. There will be more regular attendance expected during the first 6 months of employment.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week with additional hours as and when required. All roles are subject to a six-month probationary period and all prospective employees are required to complete an Access NI check. As part of the pre-hire process the successful candidate will be subject to reference checking.
