Overview

We are looking for a Pension Manager to join our outsourced pensions management and scheme secretarial team. You will act as the lead and day-to-day contact for our clients and will manage the delivery of services to the client through our client teams. You should be self-motivated, focused on improving member outcomes, and able to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a lead for outsourced support for in-house pensions teams
  • Act as scheme secretary on a permanent or interim basis
  • Act as day-to-day contact for clients and scheme advisors
  • Provide overall project management of a portfolio of pension schemes and specific projects
  • Oversee and maintain services in line with client contracts and internal quality standards
  • Lead on issue resolution and ensure governance compliance
  • Own the scheme business plan and address any diversions from the plan
  • Monitor budget to ensure recovery and profitability with minimal write-off
  • Lead client pensions management projects (e.g., adviser review projects) and refine management processes
  • Check/review supplier bills and oversee payments
  • Identify business development opportunities and lead new business pitches
  • Develop and maintain professional networks at regional level
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to team members; work independently and with colleagues across multiple sites

Qualifications & Skills

  • Solid pensions industry background with scheme secretarial and governance experience
  • Experience in occupational pension schemes and pension management work
  • Technical understanding of pension laws, regulations, and codes of practice
  • Defined benefit and defined contribution scheme knowledge
  • Proven project management experience; ability to manage multiple streams of activity
  • Strong client management, relationship-building, and communication skills
  • Excellent organisation and ability to prioritise to meet client deadlines
  • Experience with new business activity, pitches, networking, and industry events
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and the ability to learn bespoke systems
  • Mentoring/line management experience

Desirable Criteria

  • Attainment of the Pensions Regulator Trustee toolkit
  • Professional qualification (e.g., PMI/APMI or FPMI) or progression towards one

Location & Employment Details

Location: UK wide

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with additional hours as required. Hybrid working model with office and home-based work.
